Paramount, China Film Group Corp to Produce 3D Marco Polo

The daily variety reports that the two companies Paramount and China Film Group Corp. have agreed to co-produce the 3D sci-fi feature Marco Polo.
The deal was signed at the Beijing International Film Festival. The coproduction is of significance importance because it marks the first time partnership between Paramount and the Chinese film industry org.
The sci-fi pic will be directed by Rob Cohen director of the first Fast and the Furious movie. The feature will feature a mix of Hollywood and Chinese stars. Also involved with the project are Chinese firms, Yuehua Entertainment, Phoenix Entertainment, and Huahua Film & Media. The Variety reports that Paramount has been looking for opportunities to expand into the growing Chinese film market.
3D feature films are a big draw in China a number of US domestic films shot and released in the US in 2D are receiving special 3D conversions for the Chinese film market.
The International 3D Society along with Paramount studios will preview Noah in 3D next week at Paramount studios. Noah was released in the US on in 2D.
