NBC and Panasonic will offer a dedicated channel delivering 3D coverage of the 2012 Olympic games to 80% of U.S.
households. The carriers include AT&T, Cablevision, Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Direct TV and Verizon Fios, Armstrong, Blue Ridge, Bright House Networks, Cablevision, Cox Communications, Insight, Mediacom, RCN, Suddenlink and Wide Open West.
Panasonic and NBC are showing their commitment to the 3rd dimension by providing over 242 hours of 3D content. Panasonic and NBC’s venture in providing 3D content is a costly one but with 3D gaining traction and becoming a standard in new televisions from manufactures across the board. I see it as a smart investment in the future of 3D broadcasting…content is king! Earlier as I posted 3D coverage was limited to the opening and closing ceremony and the men’s 100m final. Great to see NBC and Panasonic go big in 3D. Let’s hope the final output looks amazing as well!
