Posted on 15 January 2013 by admin

3D concert movies are a must have media platform for the world’s top music stars. Jennifer Lopez, Justin Bieber, One Direction, Metallica, Katy Perry all see the new 3D format as a way of connecting with their audience and providing a more immersive, intimate experience. If done right it’s gotta be the next best thing to attending a live performance of your favorite music group.
The mega hot boy band One Direction starts filming their 3D movie in Tokyo this weekend. The 3D concert movie will be directed by “Super Size Me” director Morgan Spurlock. The British boy band will perform two shows in Tokyo, Jan 18 and 19. The 3D concert movie will also blend additional concert footage from the group’s “Up all Night” and “Take me Home” tour as well as a behind the scenes look at life on the road.
Loudwire.com announced today that Heavy band Metallica will release their 3D concert movie on August 9, 2013. The metal band has been working on their movie since the fall of 2012 and will continue through the early part of 2013 to put the final touches on their 3D metal concert.
Metallica’s 3D picture is being directed by Nimrod Antal, look for some heavy beats and flaming pyrotechnics, sounds like all the right ingrediants
for a great 3D concert movie.

The Jennifer Lopez 3D Doc “Dance Again” started shooting in Lisbon last year per the Hollywood Reporter. The cameras captured Lopez’s October 5th 2012 concert in Lisbon, Portugal. The 3D concert/documentary will combine 2D documentary footage and 3D concert footage. The Jennifer Lopez 3D concert will be directed by Ted Kenney. 3Ality Technica will handle the production end of the movie.

I know there has been a lot of talk about 3D being a passing fad…but the above 3D productions are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to upcoming 3D productions, I don’t think 3D will be going away anytime soon! Stay tuned more when I get it!
